The McNeil family moved
to San Pablo in 1956 from North Richmond, California. He was the first African-American
to become a councilmember in San Pablo. He has been an activist in the movement for
progressive social change since 1968 through involvement in the trade union
movement, journalism, electoral politics, affirmative action, community
technology, youth leadership development, and the peace movement. He brings
more than 22 years of non-profit experience to elected office.
