2.10.16 - The City of San Pablo - 2.5.jpg

Construction work continues on El Portal Drive - 2/12/2016 Update

Construction continues on El Portal Drive with an anticipated completion in early summer of 2017. For the months of February through the beginning of April the work will consist of demolition of the existing sound walls, relocation of existing utilities, sidewalk reconstruction and the reconstruction/realignment of El Portal Drive and the eastbound I-80 off ramp at El Portal Drive. Weather permitting, this work will be completed by early April, 2016.

Beginning 2/22/16, for the duration of this work, access to and from El Portal Drive, all entrance and exit ramps to and from I-80 will remain open, except as needed for public safety. The sidewalk on El Portal Drive from Glenlock St to the Intersection of the WB I-80 off ramp will be closed. Please see the alternative pedestrian/bicycle detour as outlined in green arrows on the attachment.

Electronic changeable message signs will be placed in strategic locations on city streets to minimize traffic delays and public inconvenience. This is necessary as part of the I-80/San Pablo Dam Rd Interchange Reconstruction Project, which is managed by the CCTA (Contra Costa Transportation Authority).  Project hotline phone number is (510) 277-0444, where you can leave a message with questions on the project and construction work.

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and project partners, including the cities of San Pablo and Richmond, Contra Costa County, and Caltrans, are making every effort to provide opportunities for project neighbors to stay informed about this construction work, and have established a Project hotline phone number (510) 277-0444, where you can leave a message with questions on the project and construction work.
