Energy Conservation and Climate Action
Energy efficiency is the best investment cities, businesses and individuals can make to address energy
and environmental issues today. It both helps to save money and combat global climate change.
San Pablo has received two Federal Grants; 1) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant
(EECBG) funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and 2) The Climate Showcase
Communities Grant funded through the US Environmental Protection Agency. The grants are being used
to upgrade City facilities’ efficiency and lower the cost of municipal operations. Some of the projects
identified are to convert city owned streetlights to LED technology and retrofitting the lighting in city hall
to be more efficient. The City is also looking into weatherizing our buildings in order to further reduce the
amount of energy required for city operations. San Pablo is committed to conservation of resources
including energy use.
